The Golden Era of IVF in India
I remember the early days of IVF in India with a sense of pride. As one of the pioneering IVF clinics, we were part of a movement that brought hope to countless families. In a country where building a family is deeply valued, the work we did was met with gratitude and appreciation. The joy of aiding couples in their journey to parenthood was immensely fulfilling, reflecting the special place that children hold in the hearts of many.
The Challenges of Commercialization in IVF
However, the landscape of IVF in India has dramatically changed. The commercialization and corporatization of IVF clinics have shifted the focus from patient care to profit, eroding trust in the process. This transformation has led to an increase in unethical practices—such as lack of transparency and pushing unnecessary treatments ( such as PRP injections) —that prioritize financial gain over patient well-being. Doctors routinely order a panel of tests ( such as ERA and PGT) for all patients who come to them , but most of these tests are extremely expensive and very useless , but because they help the clinic to make more money , they have become very common . Sadly, hiding information from patients seems to have become the norm , and most clinics refuse to share basic information ( such as embryo photos ) , which means patients really have no idea to whether they have received good quality care or not, even though the medical records are the patient’s property. As a result, many patients who have failed IVF cycles in other clinics because of deception and exploitation, now approach IVF options with skepticism and distrust, affecting even those of us who strive to maintain integrity in our practice.
Restoring Faith in IVF Treatments
As an IVF expert with over three decades of experience, it’s my mission to counteract these negative trends by fostering a transparent, patient-centric approach. At our clinic, we emphasize clear communication, ethical treatment options, and the well-being of our patients as our top priorities. It’s crucial for potential patients to have access to honest information and realistic expectations about the IVF process.
