Why it’s biologically implausible that masks are effective
Masks are supposed to act as a barrier, but viruses are microscopic, and can easily pass through home-made masks and surgical masks.
Most masks are poorly fitted , and the open ones allow the user to breathe in air loaded with viruses. Also, many people use them intermittently, which defeats the entire purpose !
And many poor people use handkerchiefs instead – this is clearly not going to protect them from a virus !
The people at highest risk for getting infected are those who are confined at home and are in close contact with someone who is infected. However, most of us don’t wear masks at home – and we don’t get infected, do we ?
Most people can’t afford to dispose off their masks, so they reuse them.
Just like soaps are a hotbed of microbes , I am sure this is true for masks as well . Instead of protecting us, maybe they are causing us to fall ill !
Instead of using stupid theoretical models to assess the efficacy of masks , why can’t we do real life clinical trials to judge if they work or not ?
I guess the problem is that no mask manufacturer is going to pay for this research !
